Using streaming video in your website is a good SEO strategy - Video SEO, or VSEO, is not used anywhere near as much as it should be.

Not only does it provide your visitors with something a little more visually stimulating than a standard web page, but did you know it can also help with search engine optimisation?

Sure, you can upload your video to YouTube, become one of the many thousands competing for recognition, and hope to achieve a good Google search result that way (good luck with that!).



Why not add video to your own website, and optimise the page and the video with the goal of obtaining your own video search result.? Your video's SEO will further improve your overall website SEO.

For example, if you Google "Julie Kember" (a singer/songwriter from Sydney, Australia), you should see two video results about four or five down from the top (click the first image to the right for a screen capture). One of them is a YouTube video, but the other is from justweb™ - a video that is embedded in a page in which I wrote a review on Julie's new album, "Sugar & Stone". The justweb™ video will also come up in the results if you search for "Strongest Girl" (see screen capture).

Further (at the time of writing), if you click the link that says "Video results for Julie Kember", you should see the justweb™ video as the default video on that page (click  the second image to the right for a screen capture).

The point here is that the same thing can be replicated for any video - perhaps one about accounting, law, plumbing, chiropractic, building, car sales, accommodation, real estate, etc. - as long as the optimisation for the video and the video page is created correctly.

Nothing is 100% guaranteed, and of course, as with anything, it is not quite as simple as just sticking a video on a web page and hoping for the best.
