Search Engine Optimisation (Search Engine Optimisation)
Statistics show us that more than 80% of traffic from search engines comes from organic results. Basically, unless you are on the first page of Google™, regardless if you have a PPC strategy, your website may not be performing to it's full potential. Copywriting

Website Copywriting A good copywriter knows which words trigger the feelings that compel people to make decisions. They write with flair, making it easy for people to be drawn into what they are saying about your business, services or products - see professional copywriting, and an example of good copywriting for a Mercedes Dealer, or not-so-good copy for a Used Mercedes dealer.

Directories

Directory Listings You should add your website to as many directories as you can. Check out our free Australian Business Directory page for addresses and information about business directories.

News, Blog and Article index page There are many ways to make money from your website, but perhaps the simplest is to add Google Adsense to your pages. I don't recommend doing this to your business website however, but if you have a personal interest website, a blog, or perhaps even an old business website that is no longer trading, yet still has content, using Google Adsense can create a very good passive income revenue stream.

Google Adsense for websites will be discussed in more detail in another article. This article is about domain names that you own, but are not using. You may have registered multiple domain names for future use, to prevent your competition from buying them, or just as an investment.

How To Make Money From A Website Did you know can can actually put those unused domains to use and make money from with very little effort?

You simply use "Google Adsense for Domains". It is really quite easy to setup. All you have to do is create a Google Adsense account (if you don't already have one), then add your unused domain (or domains) and await acceptance into the program. Please note you must strictly adhere to Google's policies. You also have to point the domain to the Google servers, but there are clear and easy instructions on that procedure.

You've probably seen similar websites when you've misspelt a domain name, or typed in an address hoping it will take you where you want to go. You are greeted with a page of ads relevant to the domain. EG, if you go to our "parked" website optimisation page, you will see Google generated ads on the page. Notice how all the ads, or the majority of them at least, are focussed on search engine optimisation (SEO), or website optimization. The ad content is generated from either the keywords you enter into your account, or from the domain name itself - or both.

All in all it takes minutes to setup, and if it makes a few bucks along the way, that's more than the domain would make if it was simply "parked". In summary, if you want to make money from a website domain name you own, look at Google Adsense for Domains.

What is "Domain Parking"?

Domain parking refers to the registration of a domain name without that domain being associated with any services such as e-mail or a website. This may have been done with a view to reserving the domain name for future development, and to protect against the possibility of cyber squatting. Since the domain name registrar will have set name servers for the domain, the registrar or reseller potentially has use of the domain rather than the final registrant.

Domain parking can be classified as monetised and non-monetized. In the former, advertisements are shown to visitors and the domain is 'monetised'. In the latter, an "Under Construction" or a "Coming Soon" message may or may not be put up on the domain by the registrar or reseller. This is a single-page website that people see when they type the domain name or follow a link in a web browser. Domain names can be parked before a web site is ready for launching.
